The Mercedes-AMG G 63 has undergone a dramatic transformation by Brabus into an exclusive open-top super SUV. The 900 Rocket Edition Cabrio combines the G-Class’s imposing stature with extreme performance capabilities. Only 10 units will be produced worldwide, each powered by a heavily modified 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine generating 900 horsepower and 1,250 Nm of torque. These specifications raise the vehicle beyond standard G 63 performance, delivering a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h.
Developing an open-top version of the G-Class presented significant challenges. Brabus engineered a two-piece soft-top system comprising over 500 components, including a reinforced windshield frame, heated rear glass, and a carbon-fiber roof bow with an integrated roll bar. The system resolves common issues with soft-tops: it opens or closes in just 20 seconds, and each cabrio undergoes more than 10 hours of water testing in a climate chamber to guarantee watertight seals before delivery.
The powertrain represents a radical departure from the standard G 63. Brabus expanded the engine’s displacement from 4.0 to 4.5 liters by increasing the bore and stroke, then reinforced it with forged pistons, high-performance connecting rods, a billet crankshaft, and larger turbochargers capable of 1.4 bar of boost. Every engine is dyno-tested with custom maps for injection, ignition, and boost control to achieve a balance between power output and durability. The exhaust system features a stainless-steel dual setup with exposed-carbon surrounds and selectable sound modes, ranging from a raw V8 growl to a subdued “Coming Home” setting.

The exterior design incorporates Brabus’ carbon-fiber Widestar widebody kit, with exposed carbon accents on select panels. A custom front fascia includes large air intakes, an integrated spoiler, and an illuminated carbon grille surround accented with red stripes and the Brabus emblem. The wheels are 24-inch Platinum Edition designs with carbon-fiber aeroblade inserts and 295/30 ZR24 front and 345/25 ZR24 rear tires, measuring 10 inches wide at the front and 12 inches at the rear.
Brabus’ RideControl coilover suspension, developed in collaboration with KW, lowers the vehicle by up to 45 mm and adjusts damping through the Drive Select system. Inside, the Masterpiece cabin features black leather and Alcantara upholstery with red stitching, Rocket Red accents, and exposed carbon-fiber trim. The result is a 900-horsepower luxury cabriolet that blends the G-Class’s distinctive boxy silhouette with Brabus’ performance heritage.
