Volkswagen’s ID. Aura T6, a mid-size electric SUV, has begun deliveries in China with a 660 km CLTC range and a starting price of 129,900 yuan (~$19,375). The model competes directly with the BYD Sealion 06, Geely EX5, and Toyota bZ3X, positioning itself as FAW-Volkswagen’s latest entry in the growing Chinese EV market.
The ID. Aura T6 offers four trim levels, each with distinct configurations and pricing. The base 540 Pro starts at 129,900 yuan, while the top-tier 660 Ultra reaches 166,900 yuan (~$24,895). All versions share a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 170 kW (228 hp), paired with either a 59.9 kWh or 77.5 kWh LFP battery—delivering 540–660 km under China’s CLTC testing cycle (equivalent to 446–541 km WLTP in Europe).
Despite its 4.8-meter length, the SUV seats only five passengers and features a 576-liter trunk. Its design emphasizes efficiency, with a 0.245 Cd drag coefficient, 19- or 20-inch wheel options, and a 2,836 mm wheelbase. Inside, a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay, HiCar, and CarLink, while a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 25.8-inch augmented reality head-up display enhance the driving experience.
The ID. Aura T6 also introduces Volkswagen’s CEA architecture, developed with Xpeng, marking one of the first vehicles to adopt the platform. It includes a LiDAR-based assisted driving system powered by the Horizon Robotics Journey 6H chip, enabling Highway NOA (Handle on Autopilot) and Urban Pilot features. The system delivers 420 TOPS of computing power, positioning the SUV among China’s most advanced driver-assistance offerings.
Sales launched on September 20 in Guangzhou, targeting buyers seeking a balance between range, technology, and mainstream pricing. The model’s 22-minute charging time and 7.2-second 0-100 km/h acceleration further align it with competitive EVs, though its five-seat layout may limit appeal compared to seven-passenger rivals.
