Zhengzhou Nissan developed the first global Frontier Pro model in China.

Nissan has introduced a new pickup truck, the Frontier Pro, featuring Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) technology. This marks a significant milestone for the automaker, as the model is the first global product developed and manufactured in China by Zhengzhou Nissan, reflecting Nissan’s strategic expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. The truck launched first in Mexico, where it offers a powerful combination of a gasoline engine and electric motor delivering 410 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. Additionally, Nissan provides conventional engine choices, including gasoline and diesel variants under the M9T engine series, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF, providing flexibility for different driving preferences. With a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, the Frontier Pro is designed for heavy-duty tasks.

The electric battery provides a range of 135 kilometers in pure electric mode when fully charged. This capability makes the Frontier Pro suitable for urban commuting and short-distance deliveries without engaging the combustion engine. The battery’s capacity is highly reliable for daily use, ensuring consistent performance across various driving conditions. Pricing in Mexico starts at Rp1.79 billion. The truck’s robust design includes a 5.5-meter length and a 3.3-meter wheelbase, creating spacious cabin and cargo areas. Its exterior features a bold, muscular body with reinforced panels, and the body is notably tall, enhancing both the vehicle’s commanding presence and interior headroom. The body contours are designed to be robust and structurally reinforced from all sides, contributing to the truck’s durability.

Following Mexico, the Frontier Pro will expand to the Philippines in November, then the Middle East and South America. This phased approach allows Nissan to adapt to regional market demands and infrastructure readiness, ensuring a smooth introduction in each area. In 2027, it launches in Australia under the name Navara Pro. While Nissan Indonesia has not confirmed an official arrival, local enthusiasts are eager about its potential entry into the market.
