The Kia Sorento, priced from Rs. 27.99 lakhs to Rs. 40.19 lakhs (ex-showroom), has been launched in India. The three-row SUV, assembled at Kia’s Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, is based on the facelifted fourth-generation Sorento that debuted globally in 2023.
Trim Levels and Powertrains
The Sorento comes in six trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK(A), HTX, and HTX(A). Buyers can choose between a turbo-petrol strong-hybrid powertrain and a diesel engine, with all-wheel drive available on the top HTX and HTX(A) variants. The strong-hybrid version combines a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine (180 HP, 265 Nm) with an electric motor (65 HP, 264 Nm), paired with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The diesel-powered Sorento uses a 2.2-litre engine (193 HP, 442 Nm) with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Driving Modes and Design
All Sorento variants come with Normal, Eco, Sport, and Smart driving modes. AWD versions add Snow, Sand, and Mud terrain modes, providing additional capability in various weather and road conditions. The SUV features Kia’s latest design language, including a prominent Tiger-nose grille with a honeycomb pattern, vertically arranged LED headlamps with Y-shaped daytime running lamps, and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The SUV has an upright profile with black cladding along the lower body, roof rails, chrome window surrounds, and satin-finished exterior detailing. At the rear, it features wraparound LED tail-lamps, a centrally positioned Kia wordmark, a roof spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and a silver-finish skid-plate-style element. The India-spec SUV measures 4815 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, 1785 mm in height with roof rails, and has a wheelbase of 2815 mm.
Interior and Features
The Sorento’s cabin offers two 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, with customizable themes based on popular Marvel, Disney, and Pixar characters. A touch-sensitive control panel allows switching between infotainment and climate functions. The cabin features a rotary gear selector, wireless smartphone charging, a powered start/stop button, and physical steering-wheel controls. The Sorento can be configured with six or seven seats, with the six-seat version featuring captain chairs for the second row and middle-row seat ventilation. Equipment includes a 12-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, head-up display, and advanced driver assistance systems. Safety is bolstered by 10 airbags, providing all-around passenger protection.
