The Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo (IMX) 2026 will return as Southeast Asia’s largest automotive show, this time featuring a dedicated KOL & Artist Area that showcases custom vehicles built by Indonesia’s most influential public figures. The exhibition highlights how car modifications have moved beyond pure performance into a cultural and creative movement, blending lifestyle trends with technical innovation.
From Sedans to Pickups: The Range of Custom Vehicles
The lineup spans compact high-performance cars, electric SUVs with wide-body styling, extreme off-road SUVs, and street-legal tuner sports cars. Each build reflects a distinct approach to modification—whether the focus is aesthetic upgrades, mechanical enhancements, or functional transformations.
For example, Ustad Jojo’s BMW F30 merges European elegance with modern custom touches, while Surya Insomnia’s Ford Everest leans into rugged adventure with a ladder-frame build. Meanwhile, Cellos’ Chery J6 electric SUV combines futuristic boxy styling with eco-friendly technology.
Even everyday models receive creative treatment. Danilla’s Honda CR-V retains a clean, daily-driver look but adds refined detailing, and Arief Muhammad’s Toyota Avanza, one of the nation’s best-selling MPVs, gets a high-end facelift. At the opposite end, Fitra Eri’s Caterham strips down to pure driving essence, and Michael Simanjuntak’s Mitsubishi Strada transforms a double-cab truck into a heavy-duty off-road beast.
How Public Figures Are Shaping Indonesia’s Modification Culture
Gofar Hilman’s Toyota HiAce, for instance, has been turned into a mobile VIP lounge with extra seating and street-culture flair. Urrofi’s Toyota Hilux is built for overlanding with a dual-cabin setup.
Classic cars also receive attention, Omesh’s 1970s Toyota Corolla KE30 wagon demonstrates that retro restorations still hold strong appeal.
Sports cars dominate the scene as well. Raffi Ahmad’s Ford Mustang Eleanor, along with Farrel’s Subaru BRZ and Aloy’s Subaru BRZ, are tuned for drifting and precise handling.
Not every modification seeks speed. Fitra Eri’s Caterham and Apos’ Subaru BRZ prioritize lightweight purity and daily usability, respectively. Motomobi’s Daihatsu Ayla Turbo turns a micro-car into a performance machine, and Jejelogy’s Ford Ranger Raptor pushes off-road capability to extremes.
