The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has launched with updated pricing from Rs. 5.99 lakh to Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), covering five configurations and three engine options. The refreshed compact hatchback keeps its original dimensions but features styling tweaks such as a three-bar grille, relocated Suzuki emblem, and updated fog lamps. The cabin now includes the segment’s first Level 2 ADAS package as standard on higher trims, alongside ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger.
Trim Levels and Powertrain Options
The base Sigma trim starts at Rs. 5.99 lakh and offers only the 1.2-litre petrol manual setup. Moving up, the Delta adds Rs. 1.01 lakh for the petrol manual, with the AMT version costing Rs. 7.50 lakh—a Rs. 50,000 increase over the manual. The CNG manual variant debuts at Rs. 7.92 lakh, marking a Rs. 92,000 premium over the petrol manual.
The Zeta trim follows with pricing of Rs. 8 lakh (manual), Rs. 8.50 lakh (AMT), and Rs. 8.92 lakh (CNG), maintaining the same Rs. 50,000 gap between manual and automatic transmissions. The top-tier Alpha and Alpha (O) trims eliminate the CNG option, focusing exclusively on petrol manual and AMT. The Alpha begins at Rs. 9.10 lakh (manual) and Rs. 9.60 lakh (AMT), while the premium Alpha (O) is priced at Rs. 9.50 lakh (manual) and Rs. 9.99 lakh (AMT).
Only the Delta and Zeta trims provide all three powertrain choices—petrol manual, AMT, and CNG—while the higher-end variants restrict buyers to petrol manual and AMT.
Engine and Fuel Efficiency Improvements
The new Z12E petrol engine replaces the outgoing K-series unit, delivering 82 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque while improving fuel economy. The manual transmission remains the base choice across all trims, with the AMT adding a Rs. 50,000 surcharge from the Delta trim upward. CNG variants, available only in the Delta and Zeta, cost Rs. 92,000 more than their petrol manual equivalents.
Pricing strategy separates the lineup into two tiers: lower trims emphasize affordability with manual transmissions, while upper trims prioritize automated features and advanced safety systems. The Alpha (O)’s Rs. 9.99 lakh price makes it the most expensive Baleno to date, though it omits the CNG option found in mid-range models.
Design Revisions and Interior Enhancements
Externally, updates are minimal, new grille slats, revised bumpers, and a restyled antenna, but the interior sees meaningful changes. Level 2 ADAS, featuring adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, is now standard on the Zeta, Alpha, and Alpha (O) trims. Additional refinements include ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system).
The car’s overall dimensions and alloy wheel design remain unchanged, indicating Maruti Suzuki’s focus on software and driver-assistance upgrades rather than structural modifications. The limited availability of the CNG powertrain, restricted to the Delta and Zeta—may reflect shifting market preferences or logistical considerations, though the manufacturer has not provided a specific reason.
Unlike previous Baleno refreshes, which introduced hybrid powertrains or mild hybrid systems, this update concentrates on traditional engines with modest efficiency gains. The introduction of the ADAS suite, however, represents a deliberate shift toward safety-focused positioning in a segment where such technology was previously uncommon.
Dealerships have begun delivering the 2026 Baleno, with manual transmission models expected to lead initial sales due to their broader trim availability. The AMT and CNG variants, though pricier, target buyers seeking automated driving aids or fuel cost savings.
