Mercedes-Benz has introduced an electric SUV version of the Mercedes-AMG GT, built on the same AMG.EA platform that underpins the four-door coupe.

The model marks the brand’s first EV-only SUV, pairing high-performance power with a roomier cabin that offers extra headroom and larger luggage capacity.

At the front, the continuous light strip is replaced by metal grille bars and an illuminated three-pointed star that can light up on demand. Side doors retain flush-mounted handles, while the rear features six circular turbine-style brake lights.

Inside, the layout mirrors the sedan: a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, a driver-focused 14-inch infotainment screen and an optional second 14-inch screen for passengers. Carbon-fiber trim decorates the central console, complemented by physical controls, optional Burmester 4D audio and a panoramic roof with Sky Control that can turn transparent or frosted.

Three variants are offered, GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63, each with distinct battery sizes and motor arrangements.

The GT 53 uses a 106 kWh battery and two electric motors to deliver 536 hp and 800 Nm of torque, achieving a WLTP-rated range of 668 km.

The GT 55 is available with either a 106 kWh or a 128 kWh pack and three axial-flux motors, producing 805 hp and 1,860 Nm. The smaller battery yields a 585 km range, while the larger extends it to 700 km.

The GT 63 adds a third motor for a combined output of 1,153 hp and 2,000 Nm, yet it keeps the same WLTP range as the GT 55. Acceleration runs 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and 0–200 km/h in 7.2 seconds, just 0.4 seconds shy of the McLaren P1.

The SUV’s performance figures and practicality may attract buyers who want both the characteristics of a sports car and the usability of an everyday vehicle, potentially expanding the brand’s appeal beyond traditional coupe enthusiasts.

Pricing starts at €113,050 for the GT 53 in Europe. The GT 55 and GT 63 are slated for launch between March and May, with exact prices to be confirmed later.

Deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the launch window, targeting markets where high-performance electric SUVs are in demand.
